A widely traveled artist who has pursued his photography professionally since his teens, Lorin's gifted eye and deft sense of composition, detail and color have earned him recognition and acclaim. He has exhibited in museums, associations and juried shows and continues to pursue his love of the perfect image any where he may happen to find it.

Early influences from his life in Japan, summers in Nantucket, his time as an undergraduate in the stunning countryside around the French town of Besancon and at a Swiss farm, his stint as a Fulbright scholar in Sydney, Australia - all these varied cultural experiences have shaped Lorin's vision in unique ways.  Traversing the same locales as did the Impressionists and mining many of the same inspirations as have famously shaped such artists as Manet, Van Gogh and Courbet, Lorin brings a distinctly romantic and sensuous sensibility to his studies of landscapes, textures, architecture and exotic locations.  At the same time, living in the twenty first century, working on research topics including labor relations, slavery and old time whaling, these real world life experiences naturally bring a more knowing quality to Lorin's work.  This bittersweet blend of beauty and compassion is readily discernible in Lorin's appreciation of the wry and dark detail, the off beat moment, and the poetic contrast of accident and circumstance which he works to humorous and often poignant effect in his creative productions.

Lorin's award-winning photography can be seen at his visitor-friendly
